Elementary Dear Gandalf! Ian McKellan To Play Sherlock Holmes

He was the one who sent Frodo on the quest to destroy the one ring to rule them all, he was also the master of Magneticism but now Ian McKellan will be all elementary and star as Sherlock Holmes.

A Slight Trick Of The Mind will see the British actor play an ageing Sherlock Holmes based on Mitch Cullin‘s novel of the same name. Set in 1947 Holmes now 93, retired to to beehives with his great trait diminishing,the power of recollection but he believes using the royal jelly from his bees his longevity will last . Sadly Dr Watson is no longer by his sides Holmes is haunted by a unsolved case from 50 years before, missing war diplomats secret bonds with beautiful wives, the word’s greatest fictional sleuth is faced with the toughest case of them all.

The see sees McKellan reunite with his Gods And Monsters director Bill Condon who is at Toronto Film Festival with The Fifth Estate starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The Kings Speech duo Iain Canning , Emile Sherman are producing with help from BBC Films Christine Langan and Archer Gray Productions’ Anne Carey too.
