EIFF 2015 – Watch Arnie in new Maggie trailer
Ahead of its premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this weekend, the new trailer for Maggie has been released, proving that the zombie trend is still going strong. However, Maggie is not the type of film you would expect when you hear Arnold Schwarzenegger is starring in a zombie film, with first time British director Henry Hobson opting for a more dramatic and emotional response as opposed to all out action.
Synopsis – A teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) in the Midwest becomes infected by an outbreak of a disease that slowly turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies. During her transformation, her loving father (Schwarzenegger) stays by her side.
Ahead of a limited release in the US, Maggie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, coming away with mixed reviews. Whilst some praised Hobson’s direction, others commented on the over-sentimentality of the film. Almost all however, had positive things to say about Abigail Breslin’s performance. Good or bad, it will certainly be interesting to see a restrained zombie film.
Maggie has its premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 20th June and is released in UK cinemas on 24th July.
