Eat A Sea Monsters Heart In Tale Of Tales UK Trailer

Tale Of Tales
They where called ‘Entertainment For Little Ones’ in English, Giambattista Basile’s dark fairytales will come to life in Tale Of Tales. Later this month the film based on those tales will be released in UK&Irish cinemas and Curzon Artificial Eye are making sure we know about the film’s presence with a late UK Trailer…

Inspired by the celebrated fairytales by Giambattista Basile, Tale Of Tales is an epic vision of cinema from Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah). The film screened in competition at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

From the bitter quest of the Queen of Longtrellis (Salma Hayek) who forfeits the life of her husband (John C. Reilly), to two mysterious sisters who provoke the passion of the King of Strongcliff (Vincent Cassel), to the King of Highhills (Toby Jones) obsessed with a giant Flea leading to heartbreak for his young daughter. Tale Of Tales weaves the beautiful with the grotesque, creating a stunning and unique work of gothic imagination.

Describing this film as uniquely odd it seems would be a close description of this film. It’s hard to overall compose thoughts on this film, at Cannes the reaction was mixed. This is an anthology films (3 stories) and judging a multiple story film in 2 minutes would be a bad move even if reaction from previous screenings are public.

For Garrone’s first English language it will be one of the most baffling films you’ll see and it seems this film is one of those ‘seeing is believing’ films. This film won’t appeal to everyone but we’re in an era where classic fairytales are getting gritty remakes this might not be that bizarre. If your wondering how to describe Giambattista Basile’s work you could say he’s The Neapolitan version of The Brother’s Grimm. The stories look dark, twisted perfect for a Saturday afternoon of Grown Ups Fairytales!

Tale Of Tales will be released in UK&Ireland on 17th June.
