Drew McIntyre Joins Henry Cavill in Highlander Reboot
Drew McIntyre has officially been cast in Chad Stahelskiโs Highlander. The WWE superstar will play Angus, the brother of Henry Cavillโs MacLeod. The film, from Amazon MGM Studiosโ United Artists, will also star Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista.
Highlander will be based on the original 1986 film of the same name, which portrayed the climax of an ancient battle between immortal warriors. Told through past and present-day storylines, the film starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod. Russell Mulcahy directed the film.
Stahelski will be at the helm of the reboot, with Michael Finch penning the script.
The film entered pre-production earlier this month but was halted after Cavill suffered an injury. Production is expected to begin in early 2026.
Drew McIntyre is a Scottish professional wrestler and two-time WWE champion. Highlander will reunite him with fellow wrestler Dave Bautista, who worked with McIntyre in Lionsgateโs The Killerโs Game. The Royal Rumble winner will also reunite with Stahelskiโs 87Eleven stunt and action team.
UA secured full rights to the 1986 original with the potential to also develop a new series. Production will be handled by Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, and Louise Rosner, Josh Davis and Stahelskiโs 87Eleven Entertainment.
