There is only truth as the latest Detective Conan film makes its way to UK cinemas next month after a successful theatrical run of the previous instalment, The Million-Dollar Pentagram. This marks the second time the iconic anime franchise has been shown in the UK.

Detective Conan: One Eyed Flashback is currently the second-highest-grossing film of the year in Japan and the 28th instalment in the series. One Eyed Flashback is set to be released in UK cinemas on 26th September, thanks to Trinity CineAsia.

This latest instalment has already broken records in Japan, attracting 2.31 million admissions over its first three days and surpassing the 10-billion-yen mark within 19 days at the Japanese box office.

Based on the iconic Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) manga by creator Gosho Aoyama, One Eyed Flashback is directed by Katsuya Shigehara. The voice cast consists of Minami Takayama as Conan Edogawa, Wakana Yamazaki as Ran Mori, Rikiya Koyama as Kogoro Mori, and Yลซji Takada as Kansuke Yamato.

Official Synopsis:
Nagano PDโ€™s Kansuke Yamato and Yui Uehara are alerted that a researcher has been attacked at an observatory in the Yatsugatake Mountains. During the investigation, Kansuke starts feeling a strange discomfort in the eye he injured during an avalanche 10 months prior.

Meanwhile, Kogoro receives a call from his former colleague Sametani, who claims to be investigating the avalanche that Kansuke was involved in. But before Sametani can share his findings, he is assassinated right before Kogoro and Conanโ€™s eyes. Determined to uncover the truth, Kogoro travels to Nagano himself, while Conan launches his own investigation.

While in Nagano to investigate the killing of Sametani, Conan and Kogoro discover the avalanche is linked to a robbery that happened 8 years before. But when Detective Kansuke becomes the target of a mysterious assailant, the stakes rise sharply. Can Conan unravel the web of secrets and stop the killer before it’s too late?

Rob is a freelance film critic and writer who specialises in Anime and Asian cinema. I have adored film since a young age, having watched films that were far too old for me, such as RoboCop, Die Hard, and Hot Tub Time Machine, to discovering the heights of foreign cinema through films like Headhunters and Battle Royale. Growing up with such a diverse catalogue of films that I cherished sparked my desire to discuss them. This passion eventually led me to become a reviewer. Dissecting films, speaking to filmmakers I admire, and showcasing the best of Asian and anime cinema is how I live my best and truest life.
