The Descendants & The Artist Lead The Way In Award’s In 69th Annual Golden Globes Awards

Last night the 69th Annual Golden Globes took place in Beverly Hill’s Los Angeles with Ricky Gervais returning for a third year and with the spotlight on the host did he behave? I think we can say he did but comedian been a comedian Ricky always found a way to get a risky joke forward but most of all he kept his nose clean probably giving him the chance to host next year’s or at least in the near future.

So who where the big winners? Alexander Payne’s THE DESCENDANTS was the big winner last night probably making the film a hot favourite for next month’s Oscar’s. The film picked up best drama up against the likes of Hugo, Moneyball, The Help, War Horse, the film went onto pick up 5 awards in total with George Clooney picking up the best actor(in drama)  up against Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt. The other big winner on the night was the brilliant THE ARTIST a film I have seen 3 times now  (due to my job working in a arthouse cinema) and every time it’s been full and has had a round of a applause, it’s certainly a feel good film. The film picked up 3 globes in best actor, comedy/musical , best original score.

On the other awards Madonna shocked a few people by winning the best original song for Masterpiece for her upcoming film W.E , Elton John was outspoken about the song. A Separation [Now on BluRay] won best foreign film which may not be controversial  to an outsider but it’s an Iranian film, very good film but with American government’s relationship it certainly raised a few eyebrows but here at The People’s Movies & Cinehouse we don’t care what country film’s are from its the film itself which should be judged on.
