Denis Villeneuve Looking For “Unknown Actor” For Bond 26
It has been reported (via The Playlist) that Denis Villeneuve will commence a casting search for Bond 26 once he has completed Dune: Part Three and will be looking for an unknown actor to play the lead role.
Back in June, it was confirmed that Villeneuve would be directing the next instalment of the James Bond franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, which has since led to rumours and speculation as to who the next iteration of Bond could be. Notable names that have been thrown into the mix include Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson.
The new report, which originally comes from Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye, statesย that Villeneuve, along with producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, will be looking for an unknown, “fresh-faced” actor to play 007, but the search won’t happen until sometime next year.
Despite this casting announcement still being nowhere near ready, everything else looks to be gradually setting into place, with the likes of Steven Knight confirmed to write the film’s script.
A perk of casting a fairly new actor in the role is the limited expectations that person would have. It allows Villeneuve and co. to hire someone for their acting abilities and not because they’re recognisable. Previous actors who have become best known for the role since playing it rather than their own name coming first.
