Dayo Okeniyi Is ‘Father Of Revolution’ In Emperor UK Trailer

Nothing better than a good historical drama and Kaleidoscope Entertainment has one coming our way next month. Today they release the UK Trailer for that film Emperor which stars Dayo Okeniyi who the ‘Father Of Revolution‘.

Kaleidoscope describe this oneย  as been ‘inspired by a true legend’. set during pre U.S civil-war South, Okeniyi plays Shields ‘Emperor’ Green, a descendant of African kings. A man who travels North of the country to free his family, whilst on his journey helps to change American history.

I’m not American so Shields Green I’m not aware of his story, which is intriguing. It’s the old chestnut, what can this film offer differently that other historical films couldn’t?ย  This does look aย  good, solid film


From the producer of Django Unchained comes Emperor, an inspirational and timely portrait of courage and resilience set during a turbulent time in American history.

This epic story is inspired by the legend of 19th century freedom fighter, Shields “Emperor” Green (Dayo Okeniyi, The Hunger Games, Shades of Blue), a descendant of African kings turned outlaw slave in the pre-Civil War South.

A man fighting to free his family and bring an end to tyranny, Emperor fights his way north, joining forces with abolitionist John Brown for a daring raid on Harper’s Ferry, helping to alter the course of American history in the process.

An action-packed and powerful epic shining a light on one of historyโ€™s unsung heroes, Emperor also stars Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom, Vikings), Academy Awardยฎ nominee James Cromwell (The Young Pope, The Green Mile), Kat Graham (All Eyez on Me, The Vampire Diaries) and Academy Awardยฎ and Golden Globeยฎ nominee Bruce Dern (The Hateful Eight, Nebraska).

The film also includes Naturi Naughton, Kat Graham, Keean Johnson, Mykelti Williamson, James Cromwell, Paul Scheer, and Bruce Dern.

Kaleidoscope Entertainment releases Emperorย  in the UK and Ireland on Digital from 1st March and DVD from 5th April.
