David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street Gets New Trailer
Warner Bros Pictures. has released the brand-new trailer for The End of Oak Street, and you can watch it here.
Starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery, the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller follows a family after a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighbourhood to someplace unknown.ย However, the Platt family soon realise that their survival depends on sticking together as they navigate their now-unrecognisableย surroundings.
The film is written and directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) and produced by J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, David Robert Mitchell, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper. With Chris Bender,ย Jake Weiner, Joanne Lee and Leeann Stonebreaker executive producing.
Mitchellโs team behind the camera includes director of photography Michael Gioulakis, production designer Maya Shimoguchi, editor John Axelrad, composer Michael Giacchino and costume designer Erin Benach.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mitchell shared that the concept for the film stemmed from a very simple idea, saying, “A few years ago, I was walking through our neighbourhood in Michigan, just walking down the street, and I was passing by this garage [with a] chain link fence and garbage cans. And I was struck by the image of, like, ‘It’d be really interesting if there was a dinosaur right there.”ย Adding that the film would beย the perfect “merging” of something fantastical and a “mundane, middle-class suburb.”
He further shared that he looked for inspiration for the film not only in Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park, but also Theย Twilight Zone, Poltergeist,ย The Valley of Gwangi,ย and M. Night Shyamalan‘sย Signs. Adding “There are moments of drama, of terror and suspense, and humour. It really does move through the range.”
The End of Oak Street will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on the 14th August.
