Danny Boyle Talks Plans For a Third 28 Years Later Film
Boyle confirms third 28 Years Later film Is still happening despite delay
After months of silence, filmmaker Danny Boyle has spoken on the potential of a third 28 Years Later film.
Despite critical acclaim, the first two films didn’t fare well at the box office, leaving the fate of a third instalment up in the air. However, a few weeks ago, actor Alfie Williams teased that a third film may be underway, posting a video of himself practising archery with the caption “it’s great to be back“.
However, during a recent chat with JoBlo, Boyle has shared that a third film is in the works and he still plans to direct, but it hit a delay, explaining, “We ran out of time, because it’s set in an area of Britain [where] you can only film at certain times of the year. We ran out of time this year – we literally ran out of time. So it’ll be, hopefully, fingers crossed next year, but there’s the enthusiasm there, and Alex [Garland] has done a wonderful script for it.”
Boyle helped redefine the modern zombie genre with 28 Days Later in 2002, later returning to the series when he reunited with Garland for 28 Years Later, with Nia DaCosta taking over the director’s chair for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which received critical acclaim.
But, Boyle remains busy and is working on the upcoming biographical drama Ink starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy, which is currently scheduled to release in 2027.
