We don’t need to explain how much we’re looking forward to the long awaited sequel to Finding Nemo, Finding Dory. With the film on the horizon for it’s release next month, today we get our first look at the accompanying Short Piper. It’s been tradition for Pixar to include a short film before the main feature starts and we’ve been sent a couple of images from that and when you see these images it’s Cute Overlord!

Directed by Alan Barillaro and produced by Marc Sondheimer, Piper, the new short from Pixar Animation Studios, tells the story of a hungry sandpiper hatchling who ventures from her nest for the first time to dig for food by the shoreline. The only problem is, the food is buried beneath the sand where scary waves roll up onto the shore.
Pixar as well as Disney do love to pull at all our strings and this little short film will pull every one of them especially the charms. Alan Barillaro who directs this is a Pixar veteran whose worked in everything from A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo (to name a few), this is his directorial debut. It seems after he worked on Brave he was on a development team for Pixar to create an new animation tool to help on flexibility of current software. He tested the new software creating a small bird and now that test has become a fully fledged animated short that’s called Piper and you can see that film in it’s full glory next month.
Piper will debut in UK cinemas with Finding Dory on July 29, 2016. However Finding Dory is making it’s UK premiere at Edinburgh Film Festival on 18th June, so there is an possibility this will premiere here [book your tickets].
