Criterion Collection UK December Slate Will Be A ‘Menace II Society’

We maybe in the last quarter of 2021, Criterion Collection and Sony Pictures want to make the final month of the year a memorable one. December will come with a big slice of 1940’s inspired noir, cautionary tales and one with four Black American icons in a ‘what if…’scenario.

On 6th December comes Jean-Pierre Melville‘s LE SAMOURAI, a razor-sharp cocktail of 1940s American gangster cinema and 1960s French pop culture—with a liberal dose of Japanese lone warrior mythology.

Also on 6th December MENANCE II SOCIETY is released. Fusing grim realism with a propulsively stylish aesthetic the film is a searing cautionary tale about the devastating human toll of hopelessness, directed by Albert and Allen Hughes.

Following on 20th December, ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI… is available on both Blu-ray and DVD. The directorial debut of Academy Award–winning actor Regina King, puts viewers in a room with four icons at the forefront of Black American culture as they carouse, clash, bare their souls, and grapple with their places within the sweeping change of the civil rights movement.
