Colman Domingo Joins ‘The Running Man’ Reboot as Game Show Host

Colman Domingo to be honoured at 44TH London Film Critics Circle Awards

Colman Domingo is joining the cast of director Edgar Wright’s reboot of The Running Man for Paramount. According to Deadline, Domingo will play the host of a violent game show.

Originally a 1982 dystopian-style novel by Stephen King, The Running Man was then adapted into a 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. For the upcoming reboot, Glen Powell will be playing the lead role of Ben Richards, a man who participates in “The Running Man” game show to win money to bring his sick daughter back to life.

“I have been doing a lot of sprinting. That’s all I can say,” Powell told Screen Rant in August 2024. “I’ll say that Edgar Wright has been one of my favorite filmmakers for as long as I can remember. I think since Shaun of the Dead, I was like, ‘I can’t wait to work with this guy.’”

The Running Man is something he’s so passionate about, and we’re really taking the Stephen King book and just adding a lot of fun Edgar Wright flavor to it, and it has been awesome,” Powell added. “That’s going to be a really fun one; I’m super excited about it.“

Rounding out the cast of 2025’s The Running Man is Josh Brolin (as a TV executive named Dan Killian), Lee Pace, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean Hayes, and Daniel Ezra

However, unlike the original film, Deadline notes that Brolin will be the villain role — but they wanted a bigger star to honor the importance of the game show host. The Running Man is set to hit theatres on  7th November.
