After the disaster of The 15:17 to Paris, Clint Eastwood will be hoping to get back on track with The Mule.

THE MULE (2019)

After the disaster of The 15:17 to Paris, Clint Eastwood will be hoping to get back on track with The Mule. The veteran actor, past few years, has been behind the camera and for this one, he returns to the front of the lens as well as behind it too. A good year for the older actors as Robert Redford returning for one last hurrah in The Old Man & The Gun.

In this one, Clint Eastwood plays Matt Stone, a World War 2 veteran is caught transporting $3 million worth of cocaine through Michigan for a Mexican drug cartel. Based on a story from an issue of New Yorker Magazine from 2014, it’s hard to pinpoint if Eastwood is showing sympathy for Stone. Or is this a platform for his political views? Whatever he’s going for, this looks a lot better than his previous film.

Warner Bros has sent us the First UK Trailer for The Mule, check it out…

Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, heโ€™s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does wellโ€”so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isnโ€™t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earlโ€™s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and itโ€™s uncertain if heโ€™ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartelโ€™s enforcers, catch up to him.

The Mule is set for a January 2019 UK and Irish cinema release date (14th December for the USA). The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peรฑa, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio, Loren Dean, and Eugene Cordero.
