Its been a busy week on X-Men:First Class front on casting front with so many actors/actress been connected to certain parts, many confirmed others near confirmed possibly just rumours. Bryan Singer the movies producer has given us the biggest update on the movie and the beans were spilled when the producer had a recent chat with AICN and one of spillers was the fact the movie is to be set in the 1960’s with James Bond inspiring the look as well as technology of the movie. But there was one piece of information that everyone has been waiting for is what part is Kevin Bacon playing? The answer is Sebastian Shaw, of the Hellfire Club!!!

Here’s a breakdown of some of the points Singer gives us:

  • Cyclops and Jean Grey are not in the film.
  • X-Men: First Class takes place in the 1960s. Real world details are in place: JFK is the president. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are alive.
  • We see how Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr met, and hear of the future they dreamed of for humans and mutantkind, specifically with respect to their ideas for the X-Men.
  • Professor X and Magneto are in their 20s when they meet. Xavier will not be in a wheelchair at first, but we will see how he is crippled. And Xavier has hair!
  • Director Matthew Vaughn has been inspired by 60s-era James Bond tech, and the costumes will be far more ‘comic bookish’ than we’ve seen in the past.
  • The vision of the Hellfire Club will be the classic one, seemingly with the Victorian costumes and men’s club attitude first seen as John Byrne drew them in the ’80s.
  • The story begins with Xavier at Oxford in the ’60s, and Singer said the film will have an ‘international’ feel. Shoots in England and the US will double in places for other global locations, including the Soviet Union. Again, that’s working towards the Bond vibe mentioned earlier.
We have Golden and Silver age comic books is this the silver age movie? Looking like it! This will be popart, beatle generation type movie if you love all things 1960’s this could be a nice nostalgic and even more nostalgia if you where a kid during the decade and a avid comic book reader. This is an era that many people believe was the true era of comics when superheros where superheros dominating comicbooks of the era, this is when you wanted to read Marvel comics. Whats so fantastic is the political possibilities with the cold war era kicking off bringing in possibilities of supervillians maybe not mentioned, but the world is Vaughn and Singer’s oyster so much was discovered in this era plus if they want they could go all out camp to truly get a feel of the 1960’s!
Collider also found that Singer  confirms that the cast as listed on IMDB is correct which means virtually all thecasting posts recently are true but no Cyclops, Iceman, jean grey or Archangel infomation which would mean there not to be in this movie which will dissappoint the hardcore x-men fanbase .  Here’s how they line up:
  • James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier
  • Michael Fassbender as Magneto
  • Bill Milner as Young Magneto
  • Nicholas Hoult as Beast
  • Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee
  • Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique
  • Morgan Lily as Young Mystique
  • Kevin Bacon as villain Sebastian Shaw
  • Edi Gathegi as Darwin
  • Jason Flemyng as Azazel
  • Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert
  • Oliver Platt as The Man in Black (not Johnny Cash)
  • January Jones as Emma Frost
  • Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore
  • Lucas Till as Havoc
