Box Office Report: Brand New Day Second Fastest Film To Hit $2 Billion

Spider-man looks distressed in Brand New Day

Marvel’s latest superhero feature, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has made box office history this weekend by becoming the second-fastest film to gross $2 billion at the global box office, having reached the milestone in just under 20 days of being released. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. It stars Tom Holland in his seventh appearance as Peter Parker/Spider-Man as he grapples with losing his nearest and dearest from a Dr Strange spell, as well as taking on New York’s villains and an evolution with his powers.

Zendaya,ย Jacob Batalon,ย Jon Bernthal,ย Florence Pugh,ย Tramell Tillman,ย Marisa Tomei, andย Mark Ruffalo also appear, alongside Sadie Sink in her MCU debut.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now grossed $2.022 billion from a budget of $225 million, a $1.79700 billion difference, thanks to US sales of $785 million and overseas ones of $1.236 billion.

  • 2018โ€™s Avengers: Infinity War by The Russo Brothers with $2.03 billion (done so in 48 days)
  • ย 2015โ€™s Star Wars: The Force Awakens by J.J Abrams with $2.07 billion (done so in 53 days)
  • 1994โ€™s Titanic by James Cameron with $2.2 billion (done so in 15 years due to 3D re-releases)

In addition to now becoming the second-fastest film to make $2 billion, these numbers place the fourth MCU Spidey flick asย the highest-grossing Spider-Man film, beating 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home’s $1.921 billion, the highest-grossing release of 2026, ahead of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey’s $1.291 billion and the eighth highest-grossing film ever made, ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home and behind The Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The film was also theย second-fastestย to reach $1 billion, doing so in six days, and had theย second-best opening weekend of all time, with a global gross of $932 million,ย coming behind Avengers: Endgame.
