Period dramas on the big and small screen, usually connect to elite of Georgian, Elizabethan periods. We all know the world is much bigger, this Autumn you will bow to Viola Davis in The Woman King. Entertainment One have released the first UK Trailer for this African based drama thriller. The leader of warriors, female warriors!

This film looks to tick many boxes from period drama to action based thriller. That showcases swords and sandals epics aren’t just Greek or Roman warrior based. The Woman King is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard) and inspired by true events. The story of the Dahomey Amazons and their fearsome general Nanisca (Davis). The all female warrior tribe, she trains new generations of warriors. Battle ready against an enemy ready to destroy their way of life.

Fans of Marvel‘s Black Panther will be interested to know Nanisca inspired Dora Milaje. The leader of the all female warrior cast that protected The Wakanda Royal Family. This trailer teases the epic battles we can expect in this film. Not forgetting the fantastic cast and off course exciting film on the cards.
