Blood Simple & Inside Llewyn Davis Getting 4K Studiocanal Classics Upgrades

After announcing their Studiocanal Classics range, Studiocanal UK have announced a ‘couple classics’ gettting a 4K upgrade…Blood Simple and Inside Llewyn Davis.

Two classics by Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, The Big Lebowski). The brothers 1984debut ground-breaking neo-noir and their 2014 music feature film, which received two Oscar nominations Both will be released in October, both in brilliant 4K quality and featuring extensive bonus material and new footage.

A ruthless bar owner (Dan Hedaya The Usual Suspects) hires a private detective (M. Emmet Walsh Blade Runner) to get rid of his wife (Frances McDormand Fargo) and her lover (John Getz The Fly), but the plan goes fatally wrong. Joel and Ethan Coen’s brilliant directorial debut from 1984 already showcases the DNA of the Coen universe: a ruthless neo-noir brimming with irony, suspense and visual mastery.

New York, early 1960s: The struggling folk musician Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac Ex Machina) drifts through Greenwich Village, with no fixed abode, no record deal and no prospects. On his travels, he meets the feisty Jean (Carey Mulligan Maestro) and the hard-nosed jazz musician Roland Turner (John Goodman Barton Fink) – and a stray tomcat who won’t leave him alone.

This melancholic music portrait by Joel and Ethan Coen won the Grand Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival and received two Oscar nominations. Oscar Isaac delivers a compelling performance in his title role. The critically acclaimed soundtrack is by T Bone Burnett.
