So whatcha you gonna do now Bad Boys now that your director has gone? Bad Boys 3 aka Bad Boys For Life are now searching for a new director. The Grey /A-Team director Joe Carnahan has officially left the project, however, the reasons aren’t at this stage.
Hollywood Reporter broke the news despite the director recently handing a draft for the movie and a confirmed date for shooting about to be announced as well. If we go by the source of the story it’s ‘creative differences’ and this reason doesn’t make things any clearer, apart from there’s one party involved in the project who aren’t happy.
Bad Boys 3 road to reality has so far been a long bumpy ride, and Carnahan wasn’t the only director connected to the job. He has, however, the past couple of years he has been the only one since 2018 but as we know in those couple of years he has been very busy. It does look likely scheduling problems could be the main reason for this news, that makes you wonder if The Raid U.S Remake could be the reason. But at this stage, nothing has been officially confirmed.
Carnahan has kept himself busy, writing the script based on the popular video game Uncharted as well as writing duties for the X-Men spin-off X-Force.He also produced the upcoming action flick Wheelman with the TV series based on NARC too.
Whilst we’re not the franchise biggest fans, Joe Carnahan’s filmmaking style seems to fit perfectly into what Bad Boys vision stands for. With Will Smith and Martin Lawrence set to return as Detective Mick Lowrey and Marcus Burnett with a November 2018 release date, there’s no word this means Bad Boys 3 will be delayed once again. Will it mean a new writer will also be lined up or will Sony Pictures keep the script only time will tell?
