Alan Cumming set to be Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday

Alan Cumming, who is set to reprise the role of Nightcrawler for Avengers: Doomsday has given fuel to speculation about one of the X-Men who are yet to be confirmed to return for either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight at the Emmys, he was asked about whether we could see Halle Berry’s Storm in the upcoming Avengers film, to which he responded “maybe she does, I’m the last person to ask” before joking about the trouble he got into with Marvel for accidentally letting slip that Nightcrawler may have a fight with Pedro Pascal‘s Reed Richards in the upcoming film. He did confirm that he has completed shooting for Avengers Doomsday, coinciding with rumours that the film has recently wrapped shooting.

The last word we heard about the films was in February when directors Joe and Anthony Russo told The Hollywood Reporter that the new Avengers Films were going to “surprise” and “challenge” audiences.

Alan Cumming joins a host of returning X-Men stars including James Marsden as Cyclops, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.

Avengers: Doomsday releases on December 18th 2026.
