Andrew Scott To Star In World War 2 Drama Pressure

Andrew Scott‘s career is going upwards and onwards these days with the likes of Ripley, All Of Us Are Strangers and Fleabag. Today we have learned he is set to star in Pressure, a World War 2 drama for Studiocanal and Working Title.

It’s been a great week for the Irish actor who has been nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Ripley. The BAFTA winner is due to start working on this film set to be directed by Hotel Mumbai filmmaker Anthony Maras. Shooting in and around the UK this September.

Pressure which Studiocanal and Working Title with Maras, is described as a visceral edge-of-your-seat ticking-clock thriller, based on the extraordinary true story around the three-day run up to D-Day.

Andrew Scott is set to play Britain’s chief meteorological officer of the time, James Stagg.

Olivier award-winner David Haig and Anthony Maras wrote the screenplay based on Haig’s critically lauded play, which enjoyed a hugely successful run in London’s West End, before going on to be performed for Her Majesty The Queen and world leaders to mark the D-Day 75th anniversary in 2019.

In the seventy two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element—the British weather.

Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.

With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower.

With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.

Studiocanal will be  handling  the worldwide sales for Pressure.
