Neon has released the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film, Artificial.
This film is “described as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence, around the period at OpenAI in 2023 that saw CEO Sam Altman fired and rehired in a matter of days.”
Altman is played by Andrew Garfield, with the other cast members including Yura Borisov (Anora), Jason Schwartzman (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Asteroid City), Cooper Koch (Fracture), Cooper Hoffman (I Want Your Sex, Licorice Pizza), Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown, Top Gun: Maverick), Mark Rylance (Bones and All, Dunkirk) and Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad) as Elon Musk.

The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Luca Guadagnino, best known for Challengers, Call Me by Your Name, Queer, Suspiria, and Bones and All. It was penned by American writer Simon Rich, known for 2020’s An American Pickle.
This film, however, has had a rough history. Amazon MGM Studios, which oversaw the project’s development, was originally meant to release the film in early 2027, but in June 2026, the film was suddenly dropped by them. After that, A24, Netflix, Focus Features, Mubi, and Warner Bros’ Clockwork all passed on the film before ultimately being picked up by Neon for an estimated $20 million.
Artificial will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on 5th October, before heading to the BFI London Film Festival for its headline gala less than a week later on 11th October.
Artificial will be released in US cinemas this Christmas, and in UK and Irish cinemas is still to be confirmed apart from ‘2027’.
