ARRIVAL

ARRIVAL Amy Adams

He maybe the upcoming helmsman for the long awaited Blade Runner 2 but Denis Villeneuve is dipping his toes in the sci-fi genre with Arrival. After last week’s 60 second TV Spot ย Entertainment One have kept the promise and have delivered not just one new trailer but 2!Our language , our voice is our most important tool it could save us but it could also destroy us. In these new promos Amy Adams makes first contact with the aliens, but why are they here?

In Arrival, when mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team โ€“ led by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) โ€“ is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers โ€“ and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

We have to admit from what we’ve seen so far has intrigued us immensely. What the trailers do is set up the film’s basic narrative, one that our potential saviour Louise Banks (Adams) have to choose her words carefully. Question is, the communication she has established does she really understand what the aliens truly saying? We do get a glimpse of the aliens which only teases us behind frosted glass.

The TV Spot from last week suggests our little green planet is on the brink of a world war and these new trailer continue that treat of war. As you’ll see as you watch more of the trailer the world is falling apart but what is the secret? The ships are called ‘shells’, ships that aren’t hovering over nationals capitals or important centre, places of conflict, military importance.Do they want to invades or help us? are they instigators who want us to kill ourselves then they move in? There is a number of potential clues and films we could say inspire this film, according to Adams this is no ordinary sci-fi, nor is it an adaptation of a graphic novel. This film is one of those rarities that’s might be more original than conventional, suspenseful stuff!

Arrival arrives in UK&Ireland on 11th November with Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker co-starring.
