Amanda Seyfried Shares Update On Mamma Mia! 3
After a long wait, it seems that Mamma Mia! 3 is on the way, according to series star Amanda Seyfried. There has been talk about a third instalment to the franchise for a while, but it has now been officially confirmed by Seyfried herself.
When speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she said, “Mamma Mia! 3 is happening. It’s going to happen in Greece, hopefully before 2038.”
Seyfried mentioned that filming on the project had not started at this time but that she hopes it goes into production in the summer of 2026 to fit around her schedule. “It’s going to have to take a lot of people’s schedules aligning and the story being right,” she said.
The original Mamma Mia!, based on the 1999 stage show of the same name, was released back in 2008 with its sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was released a whole decade later.
The first two movies saw the likes of Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Dominic Cooper, Andy Garcia and Cher starring alongside many others. Though Seyfried is all but confirmed to reprise her role as Sophie Sheridan, it will only be a matter of time before the other cast members follow suit.
A release date for Mamma Mia! 3 has not yet been announced.
