Alison Brie Talks Masters Of The Universe And It’s More “Serious” Tone
While doing promotion across the pond for her new horror film Together alongside husband/co-star Dave Franco, Alison Brie was asked about her upcoming role as Evil-Lyn in the long-long-mooted remake of Masters Of The Universe.
Chatting to Collider, however, Brie set the record straight on the new film being a “serious” remake of the original material, saying: “Who said it’s leaning a little more serious?”
There has been rumours swirling that the reboot will take on a much darker, more “21st-century” vibes, to which Brie said that perhaps fans and the rumours aren’t quite right, adding: “I don’t think they know as much as they think they know. That’s all I’m gonna say.”
Brie takes on the role of Evil-Lyn in the film, which stars Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea Of You) as Prince Adam/ He-Man alongside Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress of Grayskull, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, and Christian Vunipola as Hussein.
Travis Knight (Kubo & The Two Strings, Bumblebee) directs the film from a script by Kubo scribe Chris Butler. Initial drafts were penned by David Callaham, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee for the movie that hails from Escape Artists and Mattel Films. This is the first time since the 1987 film starring Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and Courtney Cox that the property has made it to the big screen.
