Ali & Ava New Clip Is All About Irish Baby Names

One of the few highlights of the 2021 film festival circuit was Clio Barnard’s (The Arbor, The Selfish Giant) Ali &Ava. After the usual suspects when it comes to delays (Covid-19) finally Altitude Films will get to release their film very soon in UK cinemas. Tonight we get another tease from the film in the shape of a new clip.
The British indie has been described as a heartfelt love story starring Adeel Akhtar, Claire Rushbrook. We follow two lonely hearts who spark an unlikely romance. Both lonely for different reasons coming together all thanks to the stresses of life.
The short new clip shows Ava (Rushbrook)enjoying a night at the local with her family. As they socialise they attempt to give the new arrival to the family a name. It seems the choices aren’t going down well, Irish names that now one can actually say correctly!

Sparks fly after ALI and AVA meet through their shared affection for Sofia, the child of Ali’s tenants whom Ava teaches. Ali finds comfort in Ava’s warmth and kindness while Ava finds Ali’s complexity and humour irresistible. As the pair begin to form a deep connection, they have to find a way to keep their newfound passion from being overshadowed by the stresses and struggles of their separate lives and histories.
Enveloped in music, humour and emotion, ALI & AVA is a heartfelt contemporary love story written and directed by BAFTA-nominated Clio Barnard (The Arbor, The Selfish Giant).
The film also stars Ellora Torchia, Shaun Thomas, Natalie Gavin. Altitude Films have given Ali & Ava a 4th March.Â
