Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity Starring George Clooney Gets Official Release Date

Here at The People’s Movies HQ we can’t believe it’s 6 years since we’ve seen a Alfonso Cuaron film on our big screens when in late 2006 he released the fantastic underrated Children Of Men. For the past few years we’ve been hearing about his follow up project Gravity a space drama starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock now Warner Bros have Officially given the film a release date.
On 4th October 2013 Gravity will finally grace our cinemas screens in a worldwide release date, a film that will be screened in 3D and Imax. Gravity is a story of 2 astronauts (Clooney & Bullock) left stranded on a damaged ship after their space station destroyed and the pair attempt to get home to earth.
The film was originally meant to have been released November 2012 but fell victim to even more pushbacks as it would have been up against Ben Affleck’s Argo. It was then moved to 10 May 2013 however after The Great Gatsby now been released this summer, Gravity now has breathing space but most of all a confirmed release date for October. It should be a relativity easier month for Gravity as Machete Kills, Vince Vaughn’s The Delivery Man and Paranoia (Gary Oldman) as it’s main challengers
It’s not just been about the push backs the early days of Gravity in 2010 saw many high profile names drop out of the project but as we know now Mr Clooney and Miss Bullock have come to the rescue. You wonder if it was the prospect of sharing your last oxygen with Gorgeous George did the trick for Sandra Bullock? I’m sure this maybe a fantasy some members of the female population wouldn’t complain about!
Below is the film’s official synopsis despite that we don’t much about Gravity but it will be a film that relies heavily on special effects and will have a reported 20 minute unbroken opening scene. What the scene may consist of we don’t know yet possibly the accident that forces our astronauts to flee the station that’s something we’ll need to find out when the film is released on 4th October.
Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
