A Merry Christmas And Happy New Year!
Tomorrow santa arrives , a week later its 2025 and everyone at The Peoples Movies like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
From today until early January, posts on the site will be limited. It’s that most wonderful time of the year they like to tell us and all our sources for great content taking a well earned break. It’s been like this since yesterday and until January we have some great content coming your way. We have our favourite and worst films of 2024 from our writers. Myself and Clotilde Chinnici will bring you episode 38 of The Chronicle Film Podcast which we’ll go into our film choices in more detail. There will be a few reviews and maybe a few other surprises.
So 2024 is nearly over and like for many of us this year has been a tough year, personally and for the site. Do we make money from the website? No we don’t and when I started the site in 2008 it wasn’t my intention to make money. It was started as a platform to share my passion for film and over the years many people have joined my journey. Any money that we have gained has went right into paying a few bills, some upgrades but never to a level to live off. 2025 financially is going to be a pivotal year, as every year in life those regular bills rise, rise and RISE. We do Buy Me A Coffee account and you want to donate and support you can here. We won’t ‘bung’ you with ‘extras’ if you donate certain amounts, your donation is to keep the site running and every little bit helps.
The writers at The Peoples Movies are a great bunch. All volunteer time to go watch films, streaming shows, attend film festivals or special events. We don’t do this for money, we do it for the love in what we write or chat about. Many of us have day jobs or go to college or university others write for us they want to write about films. Myself I work for a very well known airline and start work around 4am most days and don’t get home until 5pm, hence why very little is posted some days. We are a small but long running film website, we’re honest in what we write about. We’ve even had our reviews quoted next to some the big names of film critique which makes us proud.
Despite the struggles with funding, we are looking at 2025 in a positive way. Myself will still be the chief editor however my focus will be the news coverage, the podcast. Scott our reviews editor will take over everything else which will give me more time to focus on more reviewing including Chronicles In Film my own personal blog/archive. We always have room for more writers especially news writers, writers for re-issues and world cinema. These are just a few ideas we have, best way to keep in touch is follow us on Social Media share our posts and sign up for email newsletter (link on main page).

So a big thank you to all the writers at the site for your hard work, sacrifice. To the Pr companies, the studios who stuck by us, even if we were critical of their films. For those who didn’t our door is always opened. For our family, friends who have joined us on our journey and kept with us when the likes of google tried to ‘hide’ us. To everyone thank you for your support, I wish you all a great Christmas if you don’t that’s okay. I do hope 2025 will be a safe, prosperous year and all the luck will come your way and hopefully see you here next year.
The Peoples Movies & The Chronicle Film Podcast are non-profit. We don’t have any sponsors or external funding. Every year things are getting harder to keep a float with 2025 our greatest challenge. You can support us at Buy Me A Coffee and all money raised is used to pay our bills, upgrade equipment, etc.. How much can you donate? That’s entirely up to you and all donations large or small are grateful, Thank you.
