October has now arrived which can mean only one thing 31 Days of Horror has now arrived again. For the next 31 days, we will dive deep into the catacombs of horror to pick you a movie. Every day will be different ranging from the classics to the weird and wonderful. Many you might have heard of, some will be new to you. There will be personal favourites that you may like, others you may hate but they all will unleash those emotions that make us love horror.
Day 3 is once again brought to you once again from Ross Wilcock and The Conjuring. Ross post may be brief but if you’ve seen the movie you know it’s a movie that needs very little words apart from watching it!
The Conjuring is a 2013 horror film released by Warner Bros and directed by James Wan (Saw) following a family being terrorised by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse, until one-day things get so bad they have to call in world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga). Thinking this would stop these demonic elements, thing actually become deadly.
I have to admit The Conjuring is one of my favourite films it still scares me no matter how many times I have seen it. It’s a genuinely spine-chilling film and gets scarier and scarier with every viewing. Keeping things simple less complicated works in the movie’s favour. The atmosphere is tense giving you a real sense of dread that reminds us of the old haunted House horrors from the 1970’s.
The acting in this film should be praised as it’s a cut above the rest for most horror films. And I think that at the time that was credited highly.
As for the score, well that was something from nightmares and I think once again the filmmakers made an amazing choice with everything they put into Thai film.
The thing I like about The Conjuring is that if you’re not yet a horror fan this film might turn you and equally if you’re convinced that there are no good horror films around then this one will certainly change your mind!
