Meryl Streep Is ‘Singing Maleficent’ In New Into The Woods Trailer

When it comes to Walt Disney films we can all agree they’ll be epic, but epic in what way? In the new (UK) trailer for Into The Woods is going to be an all singing affair and Meryl Streep will be ‘singing Maleficent’ this new year but could it be signing all the way to an Oscar?

Disney unveil the magic in a fantastic full trailer that reveals all the classic fairytale characters from our childhood will be together this new new year (or Christmas Day in USA), but it won’t an happy ending for everyone.

Into The Woods is a modern twist on The Brothers Grimm tales which sees the likes of Little Red Riding Hood ,Jack, Cinderella, Rapunzel a story which sees all their stories intertwining. A childless couple (James Corden & Emily Blunt) who must go into the woods to confront the witch (Streep) who cursed them…

When it comes to creating musical extravaganzas Disney are masters at it and though majority of the films have been of animated kind Into The Woods could be the one to do it in the live action market. Many critics are tipping this one to be a big hit, that good some just as strong as theatre musicals which may see it gaining Oscar recognition.

The film has star power compared to a certain other musical based film that’s coming out before it (Annie) tradition should win over contemporary. You could say it will be the closest Hollywood will get to a ‘Panto’ style film, oh yes they will! C’mon how many family films will you see Johnny Depp dressed like a wolf that looks like a pimp?

Into The Woods arrives in UK&Ireland from 9th January 2015 (Christmas Day USA) co-starring Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Daniel Huttlestone, Tracey Ullman, Lilla Crawford.

Synopsis
Starring Meryl Streep, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine, “Into the Woods” is a humorous and heartfelt musical that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a Baker and his Wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the Witch who has put a curse on them
