Last week we got our first official look at Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows ย based on a TV Show which was shown in USA during the late 1960’s ย a cult show full of vampires, witches and loads of other supernatural beasties. Ive learned the series was never shown in UK though there is a loyal fanbase ย in this country who have seen the episodes via other means than television, Tarantino, Burton himself, Madonna are all fans as is Johnny Depp who is now in his eighth collaboration with Tim Burton, when he was younger he wasย obsessedย withย Barnabasย Collins the story’s 200 year old vamp playboy. now roll on 45 years the show is coming back as a feature with Burton directing, Depp as Barnabas along withย Helena Boham Carter,ย Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Gulliver McGrath, Bella Heathcote,ย andย Jackie Earle Haley.

Todayย ย Empireย have got their hands on 2 more exclusive images from the movie ย which is to be set in 1972 like the tv series ย I don’t know why but itsย relevantย to the story, here’s what the movies screen writerย Seth Grahame-Smith had to say about it:”Tim and Johnny took a long time explaining exactly why it had to be 1972. 1969 was too early and 1973 was too late. 1972 is right at the time when the hippie movement and all its peace and love is dying out and being replaced by thisย  me-me-me generation in the ’70s who are all about showing their wealth and having everything.”

in more good news especially like me cringed at Alice In Wonderland and it been 3D, Dark Shadows will be in Glorious 2Dย Dark Shadows producer Richard Zanuck told Empire: “We discussed this quite a bit. We didn’t want to be categorised as another 3D extravaganza, because this isn’t. We have action sequences, but mostly it’s interaction between characters, and that’s where the humour and the story come from.”

I’m intrigued about this film only because Ive heard about the tv shows name but haven’t seen any footage though if I was a fan should I be concerned or even delighted in what ive seen so far? If your a fan let us by leaving your thoughts below. Dark Shadows is due forrelease in UK&Ireland ย May 11th, 2012.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feetโ€”or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboyโ€ฆuntil he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.ย Also residing in the manor is Elizabethโ€™s neโ€™er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Rogerโ€™s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and Davidโ€™s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.
