Zack Snyder’s Next Film A Zombie Action Film For Netflix

Go back to 2004 an unknown filmmaker Zack Snyder made his directorial feature debut Dawn Of The Dead. That film is regarded by some as an underrated film, a remake of the George C.Romero ‘s classic. The one distinguished feature is the zombies could run. Now 15 years later, several big projects down Zack is returning to the Zombie genre.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) is reporting Snyder is returning to the genre to direct Army Of The Dead for Netflix. The project was originally held by Warner Bros. Pictures and the film will mark his first post DC film , first for the streaming giants.

The film does seem to have a working synopsis…

The adventure is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Some may suggest The Army Of The Dead could be the unmade 2008 sequel Snyder developed. Soon as that rumour surfaced it was quickly played down. The script has been rewritten by Joby Harold and according to the report will start production this Summer. Netflix won’t be holding back on the budget with figures of around $90 (£65) million been mentioned.

In the interview with the site Snyder commented “There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one. I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way,”

When you read the interview you can clearly read Snyder is happier man. Which is great to hear after his recent tragedy with his daughter’s death. His passion to direct has come back and with nothing stopping him direct his way…

I love to honor canon and the works of art, but this is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself through a genre,” Snyder says. “It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].”

No date has been set for Army Of The Dead, we expect that date to be 2020.
