Yerin Ha Joins Bridgerton Season 4 Cast As Sophie Baek
Netflix have confirmed Bridgerton have found their Sophie Baek in the shape of Yerin Ha.
Who is Sophie? Sophie Baek has been forced to spend much of her life working as a maid for the most 
demanding employer in the ton. To fans of the books Sophie the love interest of one certain Benedict Bridgerton!
The resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances — circumstances which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball and meet Benedict.
Korean Australian actor Ha is most known for starring in Paramount+’s Halo. She will be seen next in HBO’s highly anticipated series Dune: Prophecy.
What we do know about the upcoming new season? The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). All based on Julia Quinn‘s novel An Offer From a Gentleman. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.
Anyone who has read Quinn’s novel will notice Sophie’s surname is actually Beckett not Baek. The new surname Ha adapted with the series showrunner Jess Brownell respecting her culture.
“A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing a name can be so powerful,” Ha says. “To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All credit to Jess Brownell, our showrunner.”
“It’s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold,” Ha says. “It’s amazing what it can do just in a psychological sense. So it means a lot that Jess did that for me.”
