Wrestling Movie Queen Of The Ring Finally Gets A UK Trailer!

Before the WWE Divas were the Glamorous Ladies Of Wrestling (aka Glow), before them was Mildred Burke. Vertigo Releasing is set to release Queen of the Ring. Watch the UK Trailer.

Anyone who knows the history of wrestling, Burke was the first true female champion. wrestling then was a side act at carnivals then  State promotions, and the rest is history.

Queen Of The Ring is directed by Ash Avildsen with Emily Bett Rickards as Mildred Burke,  This also stars Josh Lucas, Tyler Posey, Francesca Eastwood, Cara Buono, Deborah Ann Woll, Damaris Lewis, with Gavin Casalegno and Walton Goggins.

This is the fascinating story of the longest-running champion and first million-dollar female athlete. Following a single mother defeating societal norms in the 1940s and 1950s with all the struggles she faced.

You don’t really need to be a wrestling fan to enjoy this sports drama.  Step back Becky Lynch, Mildred Burke is the true ‘man’!
Synopsis:
Queen of the Ring is a Sumerian Pictures Production, written and directed by Ash Avildsen (Paradise City). The film tells the remarkable true story of Mildred Burke, the first million-dollar female athlete in world history and the longest reigning champion of female wrestling. Based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jeff Leen, the film follows ‘Millie,’ a young single mother from a small town who defies societal norms by becoming a female pro-wrestler at a time when the sport was illegal across most of the United States.

Despite her success throughout the 40s and 50s, Millie’s journey is marked by personal struggles, including raising her son on the road, the tragic death of her wrestling protégé in the ring and a tumultuous relationship with her manager and ex-husband, Billy Wolfe.

Queen Of The Ring will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 19th September. Then on 13th October Vertigo Releasing will make the film available on VOD.
