Like it or not the holy grail for film distributors  is the Young Adult market with Hunger Games nearing its ending Divergent ready to become the young pretender  this autumn The Maze Runner will attempt to runaway with that crown. It’s time to be a-mazed and watch the first official UK trailer For The Maze Runner.

Based on the popular YA novel of the same name, The Maze Runner set in a post apocalyptic world where young men have their memories erased . We meet Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) who awakes to find himself on a mysterious elevator with other young men been transported to a massive maze, no clue how they got there, why thy are here and why them. Trapped in this mysterious place they soon learn where they are is very dangerous and gradually unravel the cues to who brought them here too.

You soon learn in The Maze Runner the dystopian like Hunger Games violence is the key to controlling those involved, the runners. You do get a sense of Lord Of The Flies as a community is set up but is The Maze Runner a vision of Labyrinth Jim Henson would have dreamed off? The premise is good, the comparisons to The Hunger Games make this one a strong contender to fill the void but how many times have we said this  before? James Dashner‘s trilogy of books were snapped up before even the ink was dry on the books which hopefully is a strong sign that this one is a good one, we have hunch it might just be.

The Maze Runner also stars Kaya Scodelario, Patricia ClarksonThomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, and Ki Hong Lee. The film arrives in UK on 26th October.
