The new trailer for ‘odd-couple’ buddy movie ‘Get Hard’ has arrived, and it looks like it has a message behind it: don’t judge a man based on the colour of his skin. Using the odd-couple trope to emphasise it’s point, ‘Get Hard’ pushes an affluent, white male, together with a hard-working but struggling African-American, garnering it’s comedy from the wrong assumptions the pair have about each other.
Will Ferrell stars as James, a millionaire hedge fund manager. When he is jailed for fraud, he turns to Darnell (Kevin Hart), the first African-American he meets, to prepare him for his long stretch behind bars, however Darnell is much more than James’ stereotypical assumptions. With money in it for Darnell, the pair do whatever it takes to prepare James for jail, and I’m sure, learn a lot about each other along the way.
Directed by Etan Cohen, writer of Tropic Thunder, the film promises some politically incorrect satire, which I’m sure will find an audience giving the huge fanbases of the lead stars.
The film also stars Tip “T.I.” Harris, Alison Brie, and Craig T. Nelson, and opens in cinemas on 27th March 2015.
