Will Ferrell Is The Hawk In Netflix’s Golf Comedy Series; First Teaser Released
Netflix have just dropped a teaser character trailer for their upcoming sports-comedy series The Hawk, starring comedy royalty Will Ferrell as golfer Lonnie Hawkins, “one of the greatest names in golf history, that youโre somehow only just hearing about.”
Created by Ferrell himself, The Hawk invites us into the trailblazing career of “Lonnie Hawkins, 2004’s number one golfer,” as he “struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet.”
“His ex-wife and his son, Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through,” the official synopsis adds. “But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.”
Additional cast members include Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. Additionally, Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor serve as executive producers on behalf of Gloria Sanchez Productions, while ย Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue produce for T-Street. Additional producers include Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green and Andrew Guest.
Ferrell and Shannon will reunite on the project following working together on SNL in the 1990s and 1999’s Superstar by Bruce McCulloch.
The series, formatted as 10 episodes and originally titled simply Golf, was first announced in the spring of 2023, with reports of a show about a pro golfer who finds himself caught in controversy when he becomes the face of a new league.
Netflix’sThe Hawk is scheduled to swing onto screens in summer 2026.
