Welcome to the Home Of The Brave! Behold The Wolverines! Finally this month the long awaited remake of the classic 1984 Red Dawn will arrive in UK and we have the films official UK trailer & Poster.

This was meant to be the launch film for Chris Hemsworth before Thor, but the film got stuck in the MGM Financial problems (as did Skyfall, Cabin In The Woods) which saw the film either lay gathering dust or was past between other distributors. Thankfully things are all sorted, the film has had its American release a few months back now it’s our turn to see if Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Co can match the patriotism of Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen!

If your not aware of the cult 1980’s flick, Red Dawn tells the story of  a group of teenagers nicknamed The Wolverines (inspired by the schools American football mascot) who fight to save their town from invading North Korean army. In the original it was Russian -Cuban armies as the film was released Cold War Regan era hence we have new villains which originally where meant to be Chinese however that was changed to North Koreans so that the film could get a release in China.

This trailer doesn’t play on the patriotic feel as seen in the American trailer, more like an actual action packed thriller showing off these kids know how to use the gun rather than how proud of the stars and stripes, ironically a few of the cast aren’t even American! Despite the delay to Red Dawn‘s release I think we can say Mr Hemsworth has done pretty well for himself thanks to Thor, Avengers Assemble and Snow White And The Huntsman establishing himself in Hollywood.

Not long to go until this arrives in UK, Friday 15th March and Red Dawn also stars Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Connor Cruise, Isabel Lucas and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Synopsis

In RED DAWN, a city in Washington State awakens to the surreal sight of North Korean paratroopers dropping from the sky โ€“ the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganising themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the โ€œWolverinesโ€, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
