Altitude Films today released the Official UK Trailer for Brazilian drama I’m Still Here directed by Walter Salles (Motorcycle Diaries).

The film stars Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello, Fernanda Montenegro and isย  Salles first film in 12 years. The film will be Brazilโ€™s official entry for International Film at this yearโ€™s Academy Awards and recently has been nominated for two Golden Globes.

I’m Still Here takes us back to 1970’sย  Rio De Janeiro,ย  when a family man who was arrested by the government whose never to be seen again.ย  His wife and five children must reinvent themselves to challenge the oppression that is in their country in a subtle way.

Rio de Janeiro, early 1970s. Brazil faces the tightening grip of a military dictatorship. We are
introduced to the Paivas: a father, Rubens (Selton Mello), a mother, Eunice (Fernanda Torres), and
their five children. They live by the beach, in a rented house with doors constantly open to friends.
The affection and humour they share among themselves are their own subtle forms of resistance to
the oppression that hangs over the country. One day, they suffer a violent and arbitrary act that will
forever change their lives. In the aftermath, Eunice is forced to reinvent herself and carve out a new
future for herself and her children. The moving story of this family, based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s
bestselling memoir, helped to reconstruct an important part of Brazilโ€™s hidden history.

Iโ€™M STILL HERE is Brazilโ€™s official entry for International Film at this yearโ€™s Academy Awards and has been nominated for two Golden Globes, non-English Language Film and Best Actress (Drama) for
Torres, Critics Choice Award for Best Foreign Language FIlm and won Best Screenplay at the Venice
Film Festival.

I’m Still Here will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 21st February 2025.
