After playing the film festival circuit which included FrightFest Glasgow in 2022, Gabriele Mainetti’s film is ready for a UK release. The film was originally released under the title of Freaks Out and debuted at Venice Film Festival in 2021 in the Main Competition. The film changed to it’s Freaks Vs The Reich title when it was released in the U.S .
The film stars Claudio Santamaria, Aurora Giovinazzo, Pietro Castellitto, Giancarlo Martini, Giorgio Tirabassi, Max Mazzotta, Sebastian Hรผlk, and Anna Tenta. The film also stars Franz Rogowski who is in everything, last seen in Ira Sachs Passages and soon Disco Boy.
It’s Rome, 1943: Matilde, Cencio, Fulvio and Mario are the main attractions of the “Mezza Piotta Circus” run by Israel. Who now find themselves fleeing the Nazi’s lead by the psychotic Franz (Rogowski).

On their heels is the psychotic Franz, an ether-addicted, six-fingered Nazi who runs the nearby circus and believes that the supernaturally gifted quartet will help him turn the tide of the war, delivering the ultimate victory for Hitler and the Reich.

Freaks Vs The Reich will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and Download-to-Own in the UK and Ireland from 26th February.
