Watch UK trailer For Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight

Sony Pictures Releasing have released the UK Trailer for Embeth Davidtz‘s directorial feature debut, Don’t Let’s Go to the Dog’s Tonight.

Davidtz also stars along with Lexi Venter, Zikhona Bali, Fumani Shilubana, Rob Van Vuuren, and Anina Reed. The film played several film festivals back in 2024 including Toronto, picking up some solid heartfelt reviews.

Don’t Let’s Go to the Dog’s Tonight is based on the memoir of writer Alexandra Fuller who was brought in the country. This captures the life of young Bobo (Venter) living on a farm in Rhodesia at the end of the independence war of 1980. Witnessing the struggles and final days of the country that would become Zimbabwe.

Official Synopsis:
Based on Alexandra Fuller’s memoir of the same name, DON’T LET’S GO TO THE DOGS TONIGHT captures the childhood of 7-year-old Bobo on her family farm in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) at the end of the Zimbabwean War for independence in 1980. Growing up in the midst of this long running war, Bobo internalises both sides of the struggle. Conflicted by her love for people on opposing sides, she tries to make sense of her life in a magical way. Through her seven-year-old gaze we witness Rhodesia’s final days, the family’s unbreakable bond with Africa, and the deep scars that war leaves on survivors.
