Picturehouse Entertainment have released the UK Trailer for Alice Winocour‘s moving and poignant Paris Memories, set for a cinema release in August.
The film premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival starring Virginie Efira (Benedetta, Elle), which Efira was awarded this year’s Best Actress César for her performance as Mia in the film. The fil was also inspired by writer/director Alice Winocour’s own experiences of the November 2015 Paris attacks.
The film tells the story of Mia (Efira) who survives a mass shooting in a Paris restaurant. Years after the attack she is still haunted by the events, Mia returns to the restaurant. In hope of reconstructing her experience which will see her connect with fellow survivors.
Paris Memories looks like a film that’s full of hope and a tribute to the city and the resilience of Parisians who, in the aftermath of a terrible event, can still find what Winocour describes as ‘the diamond at the heart of trauma’. This looks to have plenty of emotion and compassion as humanity attempts to connect through grief…
PARIS MEMORIES follows Mia (Virginie Efira) as she struggles to make sense of her experience in the aftermath of a violent attack. Her isolation and confusion leads her to meet with others who were there, including Thomas (Benoît Magimel) who she forges a close relationship with. As Mia works through her fractured memories, she starts to rebuild her life and reconnect with the city she loves. Featuring outstanding performances, Winocour’s new film is a powerful story of hope, humanity and compassion.
The film also stars Grégoire Colin, Maya Sansa, Amadou Mbow, Nastya Golubeva and Benoît Magimel. Paris Memories will be released in UK and Irish cinemas by Picturehouse Entertainment from 4th August.
