Watch The UK Trailer For The Cannes Breakout The Climb

The Climb

Friendships are put to the test in the UK Trailer for Michael Angelo Covino‘s The Climb, ‘on yer bike!’.

Finally the 2019 Cannes breakout film is getting a cinematic release by Sony Pictures Releasing. As male toxic friendship go through laughter, heartbreak and rage when two lifelong pals test the boundaries of their friendship when a woman comes between them.

The film stars Michael Angelo Covino who wrote, directed and stars in his film along side Kyle Marvin who happens to be the film’s co-writer. The Climb is Covino’s feature length directorial debut and is based around the 2016 short of the same name. Covino is an unknown when it comes to directing and with him winning the Un Certain Regard for director.

From what we can see from the Trailer the tone feels inspired by the likes of Jacques Tati, deadpan, absurdist comedy like many classical French comedy. Probably why this one was a hit in Cannes!

Kyle and Mike are best friends who share a close bond — until Mike sleeps with Kyle’s fiancée. The Climb is about a tumultuous but enduring relationship between two men across many years of laughter, heartbreak and rage. It is also the story of real-life best friends who turn their profound connection into a rich, humane and frequently uproarious film about the boundaries (or lack thereof) in all close friendships.

The film also stars Gayle Rankin, Judith Godrèche, Talia Balsam, George Wendt, and Daniella Covino.

The Climb will be released in UK Cinemas from 23rd October.
