The fate of her country lies with one young girl, in the UK Trailer for animated adventure Dragonkeeper.

Vertigo Releasing are releasing this animation next month based on Carole Wilkinson popular books. Wilkinson is one of the film’s writers alongside Pablo Castrillo, Ignacio Ferreras, Rosanna Checchini and Wang Xianping. The film is directed by Jianping Li, and Salvador Simó.

English language cast features Bill Nighy (Love Actually) as the voice of the dragon Danzi; introducing Mayalinee Griffiths as the child protagonist Ping, as well as Anthony Howell (Elden Ring, Diablo IV) and British comedian, Bill Bailey (Hot Fuzz).

In Dragonkeeper we follow the fate of ancient China rests on the shoulders of one young girl Ping. Who must find the last remaining dragon egg and fulfil her destiny, will she unlock her powers?

In ancient China after a clash with the humans, dragons are banished from the kingdom. Many years later, innocent and freedom-yearning orphan, Ping, is looking after the last two dragons when she discovers that one has sadly died, and the other is guarding a precious and rare dragon egg. As palace guards arrive the remaining dragon, Danzi disappears, and before Ping has the opportunity to explain what has happened, she is mistaken for an accomplice and must runaway herself. Danzi and Ping escape from the palace together and must return the dragon egg to the ocean to save all dragons from extinction!

On this wild and dangerous adventure, Ping finds a way to unlock her power and discovers she is a true Dragonkeeper.

Written by Carole Wilkinson, Pablo Castrillo, Ignacio Ferreras, Rosanna Checchini and Wang Xianping, Dragonkeeper is based on the first of six novels in Wilkinson’s popular, multi-award-winning literary saga of the same name.

Dragonkeeper will be released in UK and Irish cinema from 27th September.
