Watch The Emotionally Charged 1917 Second Trailer

Sam Mendes’ 1917 will take us back to the ‘Great War’, aka World One. Today Entertainment One has released a brand new second UK Trailer which is full of tension and emotion.

The film follows to British soldiers (George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman). The pair are sent on an impossible mission, to deliver an message that could save thousands of their comrades.

This film is meant to be shot in one continuous shot, which up the epic stature of the film. There’s also the small matter, the awesome Roger Deakins is the cinematographer. As ever he delivers the visual goods, phenomenal treat to any cinefiles eyes. Amazing to think some of 1917 was shot in Govan, five minutes drive from Glasgow City Centre.

Whilst McKay and Chapman maybe the main focus, Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth get a fair crack. World War One doesn’t usually get as much film coverage as other wars. Oscar contention? We think so especially Deakins!

At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— Blake’s own brother among them.

1917 is directed by Sam Mendes, who wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Showtime’s Penny Dreadful). The film is produced by Mendes and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road, Away We Go) for their Neal Street Productions, Jayne-Ann Tenggren (associate producer, Spectre), Callum McDougall (executive producer, Mary Poppins Returns, Skyfall) and Brian Oliver (Rocketman, Black Swan).

A cast of many including Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong, Richard Madden, Colin Firth, Andrew Scott, Daniel Mays, Adrian Scarborough, Jamie Parker, Nabhaan Rizwan and Claire Duburcq.
