Watch Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children First Trailer

It’s been a long long time since we’ve said “Watch Tim Burton’s critically acclaimed film….”, like all good directors life goes on. Today Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Burton’s latest film teases us all with the first UK trailer shows potentially the old magic could soon return with a bang, but could this be the start of a franchise too?

Whilst we enjoyed the under appreciated Big Eyes many are crying out for a critical return to form for Burton to be more inventive, this one has the Burtonesque aesthetic we expect from the filmmaker.

From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel from Ransom Riggs, comes an unforgettable motion picture experience. When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.

The trailer does one thing that the children at this home are peculiar but also very unique. The trailers main focus shows off a little of the children’s powers and Eva Green does posses that power too. This has a more nuanced tone than Dark Shadows but also that early creepiness in Burton’s early films. A level a weirdness that makes his films whimsical is here too. This book is part of a set books that are been regarded as ‘Young Adult’ the story is, can it become a success in the overcrowded sub-genre? There’s been many non-starters, so if anything we should take this movie by movie incase things go south.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, with Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson and will arrive in UK cinemas Autumn (29th September in USA).
