The filmfrom Oscar winning The Artist director which is set to open this year’s Cannes Film Fest

Next month the 75th anniversary edition of the Cannes Film Festival will kick-off. Last week we learned about what films are in the line-up, the opening film will be Zombie comedy Z (Comme Z).
Ahead of it’s world premiere, the official first teaser trailer has been released. Fans of Japanese cinema may think they have seen this one before and they would be correct. As this film is the French remake of 2017 One Cut Of The Dead directed by Shinichirou Ueda. The director of this version will be familiar as it’s from Michel Hazanavicius who made the 2011 Oscar winning silent film The Artist.
This film is all about a film crew attempting to make a low/no budget zombie film. But things take a drastic turn when the small crew are attacked by real zombies!
If this is anything like the original, this will be a bonkers film!

In an abandoned building, a low-budget zombie horror movie is falling apart on set. The abusive director (Romain Duris) is already pushing the cast & crew to the brink with obnoxious behavior when he reveals his plan to inject energy & excitement into the project: unlocking a real-life ancient zombie curse. In a frenetic one-shot where body parts and fluids are flying, the actors fight the undead and their director for their lives before the film comes to a shocking conclusion and the credits roll…but is that the whole story?
The film stars Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo, Grégory Gadebois, Finnegan Oldfield, Jean-Pascal Zadi, Matilda Lutz, Sébastien Chassagne, Raphaël Quenard, Lyes Salem, and Simone Hazanavicius.
There is no official release date or distributor news yet for the UK or Irish release. Z (Comme Z) will make it’s world premiere at Cannes Film Festival on 17th May.
