In front of the millions, and millions, of The Rock’s fans, the great one layeth the smacketh on many candy assess. Over in England, there was a young girl who had dreams of becoming a WWE star and she did. Fighting With My Family is the comedy-drama based on the true-life story of WWE Diva Paige.

Lionsgate Films and WWE have released the first UK Trailer for the Stephen Merchant directed (& co-written) film. Starring Florence Pugh as  Saraya who later become Paige, with Dwayne Johnson being The Rock once again. Can You Smell la la la la, What Florence Pugh is cooking?!

With Paige recently announcing her retirement from the ring thanks to a neck injury, it’s no surprise this film is coming. You could wonder why there haven’t been more films like this instead of the usual direct to DVD crap many WWE superstars finding themselves in. With an exception of a few (Johnson and John Cena).

Great to see Florence Pugh show a diverse range of films and TV Shows she’ll star in. Its been up and upwards since The Falling, with Lady McBeth, Outlaw King and BBC drama The Little Drummer Girl (directed by Park Chan-wook)…

The film is inspired by the Channel 4 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family and tells the story of a reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Ricky and Julia want a better life for their children and when brother and sister get the chance to audition for WWE, it seems the family dream is coming true and all their troubles will be solved. However, Saraya and Zak are about to learn that becoming a WWE Superstar demands more than they ever imagined possible as athletes and siblings. Wrestling has always kept this family together but now it could tear them apart.

The film will also star Lena Headey, Nick Frost and Jack Lowden with Vince Vaughn, Stephen Merchant.

Fighting With My Family will arrive in the UK and Ireland from Friday 1st March 2019.
