We love films that arrive off the radar, like Dev Patel‘s Monkey Man. Today Universal Pictures release the first UK Trailer for Patel‘s directorial actioner debut, one small ember ember can burn everything!
Patel also stars in this one which is produced by Jordan Peele. A story of one man’s epic quest for vengeance and fans of John Wick films will dig this one. This originally was heading to Netflix and we’re glad now it’s destined for the big screen, we like every moment of this trailer.
He plays a young man on a epic quest for vengeance against the exploitative. As well as the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother who continue to systemically victimize the impoverished and powerless. Strap in folks, this kicks ass!
Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who, after the horrific land-dispute massacre of his childhood village, was left orphaned on the streets of the fictional city of Yatana. Kid now makes a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he allows himself to be beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.
But when, after years of patience and contained rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite, his childhood trauma boils over, and his scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of righteous revenge against the men who took everything from him.
The rest of the cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Makarand Deshpande, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher.
Monkey Man will be released in the UK and Ireland later this year.
