Watch Awesome New Dredd 3D UK Featurette

Let’s be honest us mere mortals who have been giving up our hard earned cashed to the almighty Tharg since the dawn of time  for our weekly fix of 2000AD and Mega City One’s greatest lawman Judge Dredd have been crying out for ultimate film adaptation. As we know next month the Lawman cometh in Dredd 3D with Karl Urban playing Judge, Jury and Executioner and thankfully the word is, Dredd keeps the helmet on plus the the assurance of positive feedback from Comic Con. Things look a lot more honest, simpler more faithful to the source the original comicbook and that’s all us Dredd fans want!

Yahoo UK have released this fantastic little featurette that has a inside look into the world of Dredd from the crime fuelled streets of Mega City to the barren lands of Cursed Earth. Dredd himself Karl Urban, writer Alex Garland and co-creator John Wagner share there wisdom on the world and bringing Dredd to the big screen once again. The law man DREDD3D cometh on September 7th in UK&Ireland (September 21st USA), starring Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Warrick Grier, Scott Sparrow and Luke Tyler.

In DREDD, the future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighbourhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.
